# Slack: Actions/api Call

> Call any Slack Web API method by name with its own arguments, for Slack actions the other Slack tools do not cover. Includes SDK V2 examples, schemas, and cost.

Call any Slack Web API method by name with its own arguments, for Slack actions the other Slack tools do not cover.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Tool ID: `slack_api_call`

## Run this action

This action has conditional or dynamic inputs. A static example cannot describe these inputs reliably.

Read the live contract before you execute this action:

```bash theme={"languages":{"custom":["/languages/deepline-prompt.json"]}}
deepline describe slack_api_call --json
```

## Example response

The static output schema lacks the details for a reliable example. Use `deepline describe slack_api_call --json` for the complete live contract.

## Input reference

Call a standard JSON-response Slack Web API method using native arguments. This does not install interaction callbacks or wait for a human action.

| Name | Type | Required | Default | Details |
| - | - | - | - | - |
| `payload.method` | `string` | Yes | — | Native Slack Web API method name, such as chat.update. New method names are accepted. URLs and paths are not. Pattern: `^[a-z][a-zA-Z0-9]*(\.[a-z][a-zA-Z0-9]*)+$`. |
| `payload.params` | `record` | Yes | — | Native Slack method arguments, including new fields and Block Kit content. Forwarded without a local Slack field allowlist. Do not supply token. The workspace Slack connection supplies authentication. |
